Singapore ends July with 7.88 mln mobile subs.

The mobile user base in Singapore rose to 7.880 million in July from 7.846 million in June, while the mobile population penetration rate was slightly up at 152 percent. Of the total mobile subscribers in Singapore, 171,800 are 2G postpaid subscribers and 1.562 million are 2G prepaid subscribers, according to figures from regulator IDA.

The number of 3G postpaid subscribers grew to 3.973 million from 3.949 million a month earlier and the number of 3G prepaid customers went up to 2.173 million from 2.117 million. Meanwhile, the number of broadband subscribers stood at 9.745 million, up from 9.644 million in June. The total includes 651,900 cable internet subscribers, 487,200 xDSL users, and 196,000 optical fibre subscribers. Singapore also had 8.406 million wireless broadband users and 4,400 broadband internet users who connect via other technologies. The residential fixed broadband household penetration rate was slightly higher at 105.4 percent and the wireless broadband population penetration rate went up to 162.2 percent. Also, the number of dial-up users fell to 53,400 in July from 54,000 in June.
